Eagle Point is underrated as a golf club and has some  of the best year-round
Things are simple at the Tom Fazio-designed Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C. Forget about tee times, swimming pool or tennis. The par-72 core routing is unencumbered by housing or development. The private club is readily walkable and has a fine caddie program.

Golfers will fly to the Travelers Championship on a chartered Boeing 757.
To attract top-tier golfers to smaller tournaments scheduled around major PGA competitions, tour organizers have taken to offering free aircraft charters for the players. For the Travelers Championship to be held in June immediately after the U.S. Open, for example, tournament officials have chartered a Boeing 757 to whisk golfers and their guests from San Diego to Hartford, Conn.

Florida's west coast has lots of real estate but few real golf clubs. Since 2006, however, it has had the Concession, a Jack Nicklaus- and Tony Jacklin-designed course that made its debut this year on Golfweek's Best Modern Courses list. Concession placed 45th on the list on the strength of its natural setting and its commitment to the game's enduring values.

Between the stark, boulder-strewn Santa Catalina Mountains looming on the east and the Tortolita Mountains to the north, you half expect to see dinosaurs roaming just around the doglegs here.
