Gregg Slow was just 7 years old when his mom began working for entrepreneur Richard Santulli, who went on to create NetJets, the fractional-share provider. Looking back, Slow says he always knew that someday he would work in private aviation. He started his career at NetJets in 2001, commuting everyday alongside his mom.

Jordan Hansell became chairman and CEO of NetJets in 2011, just two years after coming onboard as chief administrative officer and general counsel. Under his direction, the fractional-share provider launched Signature Series, a program whose goal is to refresh and unify the fleet with custom-designed cabins.

Aerospace engineer Marc Foulkrod had no intention of getting involved in marketing when he was tapped to help a fledgling aircraft charter/management firm called Avjet in 1981. After college, he served as a performance-engineering specialist for Boeing and McDonnell Douglas before joining cargo carrier Flying Tigers.

Deanna White, the new president of Bombardier-owned fractional provider Flexjet, told us her company will continue to pursue what she called a “stealth wealth” clientele while offering customized solutions to clients’ private air travel needs. Doing so, she added, may require bringing more capital into the business from Bombardier or “some other facility.”

Dan Schwinn
After launching a successful high-tech startup–communication equipment manufacturer Shiva Corporation–Dan Schwinn turned his talents to fixing a glaring problem with the utility of small general aviation airplanes. The instrumentation available in the early 1990s on the typical single-engine aircraft was needlessly complicated, Schwinn felt. What aviation needed was a much simpler interface between the airplane and the pilot–something that presents information in a clear, easy-to-interpret manner and that promotes safety, rather than detracting from it.

Air Partner’s Philip Mathews
Phil Mathews wanted to be a pilot since childhood, but bad eyesight precluded that dream. Instead, after graduating from England's University of Buckingham in 1989, he began a job as a check-in agent at London's Gatwick Airport. He was hired just for summer vacation, but he wound up being promoted to flight dispatcher and manager of general operations and spending four years there.
