BLR Aerospace has received a supplemental type certificate from the FAA for winglets that mean good news for King Air 300 owners. The Everett, Wash. company claims the winglets will increase the twin turboprop's cruise speed by five to eight knots, reduce fuel consumption 3.5 percent and increase the rate of climb by 300 feet per minute.

New World CEO Bruce McNelly noted that a variety of governmental agencies now closely monitor such corporate aircraft use and many companies require executives to pay for any personal use.

The new executive-jet division of Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer-best known in past years for building regional airliners-is doing remarkably well. Third-quarter numbers, which the company released in November, show that it had received 300 orders for its new Phenom 100 very light jet and Phenom 300 light jet as of September 30.
