On the opposite side of St. Lucia from Castries, the capital, up some bumpy roads, sits the tucked-away paradise of Cap Maison. Located in the hills and perched on a ledge above the azure Caribbean, this luxury boutique hotel is a lovely retreat; and its casual yet elegant indoor/outdoor restaurant, the Cliff at Cap, is a tropical find.

Friendly servers dish out tasty rum punches and cool beers as guests admire the view of the Caribbean down below. You might see the occasional flying fish, someone learning to sail, the island of Martinique or a cruise ship in the distance. And at the Cliff at Cap, the food is as magnificent as the view; chef Craig Jones expertly combines superb flavors, colors and textures.

Sample the tapas-style Dorado sliders with fresh micro greens and pickled lemon mayo or the sublime pumpkin soup. Or go for succulent jerk chicken satay with Caesar salad and mango chutney, braised Kobe short rib with parsnip puree and pumpkin ballotine or the corn-fed chicken with caramelized plantains in a Creole sauce. If you have room, try the iced coconut parfait with berries.

Lucky hotel guests, day-trip visitors and discerning locals all dine here for the gorgeous cliff-top views, the excellent cuisine and the Caribbean vibe.
