Helicopter Deliveries Will Remain Flat, Honeywell Predicts

Deliveries of new civil-use turbine-powered helicopters will remain flat for the next five years compared with the 2005 to 2009 period, according to a forecast by Honeywell. "Continued soft economic growth prospects in key markets, lingering tight credit conditions, high inventories of used current-production models for sale and weak new-order intake are still constraining growth," the company said in the 12th annual report. Orders for new helicopters remained weak throughout last year, but Honeywell noted that use of turbine-powered helicopters has risen in recent months. In Europe, meanwhile, usage rates turned positive in the last two months of 2009 and the inventory growth of current-production helicopters for sale on the continent has stabilized since July.
