Business Aviation Accidents Up Slightly from 2009

The number of business aviation accidents rose a bit in the first nine months of 2010, according to bizav safety analyst Robert E. Breiling Associates. During the period, U.S. business jets and turboprops experienced 34 accidents, including five that resulted in 14 deaths. That compares with 31 crashes, four of which claimed 23 lives, in the same time last year. Part 135 (charter) turboprop operations saw the biggest increase in accidents, with the number more than doubling to 16 so far in 2010.
