Mark Phelps

Mark Phelps

Mark Phelps' fixation with aviation dates back to the early 1960s. "I'd often stop at the librrary after my paper route," he said, "to read the stories of legendary pilots and aviation innovators, sometimes not pedaling home until after dark." After earning a degree in English literature from Boston University, Phelps has spent his career writing for BJT, Aviation International News and other aviation titles; contributing to corporate publications, both as a writer and editorial consultant; and advising on website content. He is an instrument-rated private pilot and ties down his 1954 V-tail Beechcraft Bonanza at Somerset Airport in Bedminster, N.J.

“[New billionaires in fast-growing countries] have to buy longer-range airplanes. If you’re flying from Mongolia to Nigeria, it’s either a three-day journey flying commercial or a nine-hour flight on your jet.”
