1. Metropolitan Museum of Art and Met Cloisters, New York. A new exhibition, Making the Met, offers 250 objects displayed by acquisition date.
2. Art Institute of Chicago. One of the finest collections of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings outside of France.
3. The National WWII Museum, New Orleans. Explore the American experience during the war and what it means today.
4. Museum of the American Revolution, Philadelphia. A new exhibit, When Women Lost the Vote: A Revolutionary Story 1776–1807, examines a little-known slice of American history.
6. Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Santa Fe, New Mexico. The only American museum dedicated entirely to a female artist’s work includes 140 oil paintings, 700 drawings, and hundreds of additional works.
7. Elliott Museum, Hutchinson Island, Florida. Attractions include 100 rare vintage automobiles and a large signed collection of baseball-related memorabilia.
8. Japan House, Los Angeles. It reopens with Windowology: New Architectural Views from Japan, about how windows frame our vision and perspectives on the world.
9. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia. Treasures of Ancient Egypt: Sunken Cities features 300 objects recovered from two cities that disappeared into the sea a thousand years ago.
