A New Swiss Campus Houses Three Museums

A new Swiss arts district in the canton of Vaud, northeast of Geneva, embraces three museums. Called Plateforme 10 because of its adjacency to the Lausanne train station, the $183 million campus includes the Musée de l’Elysée (Cantonal Museum of Photography) and mudac (Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts), both of which will open in June. A third facility, Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts (Cantonal Fine Arts Museum), debuted in October 2019 with works by such painters as Bonnard, Auberjonois, and Renoir.

The 237,000-square-foot Plateforme 10, which was constructed on the site of former locomotive sheds, also offers restaurants, relaxation areas, boutiques, bookshops, art residencies, and a library/documentation center.
