By the Numbers: The Super Bowl, Taylor Swift, and Private Aviation

The most-watched TV program of all time brought together three of our favorite things.

It was a night of superstars, showmanship, and impressive numbers. Here are a few eye-popping Super Bowl LVIII stats:

123.4 million

The number of viewers who watched Super Bowl LVIII. And that's a lowball estimate: CBS, which aired the game, says more than 200 million people watched at least some of the Super Bowl. Not only was Sunday’s event the most-watched football game ever; it was also the most-viewed TV show of all time.

The number of MVP trophies Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has bagged, including his win on Sunday. The 28-year-old is also the third player in history to win the award back-to-back. Mahomes is the face of Airshare, as well as a client of the fast-growing aviation company. “Every single hour matters," he has said. "There’s no way I’d be able to do all these different things and enjoy all my personal time without being an Airshare owner.”

150

The number of aircraft in Airshare’s fleet. The company features both the Challenger 350 and Phenom 300 in its fractional ownership programs, while also managing a broad range of aircraft from turboprops to large-cabin jets. Airshare expanded into South Florida last summer.

$20 million

The haul that Mahomes’s various endorsements bring in annually. The quarterback also has deals with Adidas, State Farm, Oakley, NestlĂ©, and DirectTV, among others.

4

The number of Las Vegas-area airports that can accommodate private aircraft. In addition to Harry Reid International Airport, the city’s hub for commercial flights, there’s North Las Vegas, Henderson Executive Airport, and Boulder City Municipal Airport.

1,000

The estimated number of private jets that landed in Las Vegas–area airports for the Super Bowl, though some estimates put the total at 1,500. No previous Super Bowl has ever drawn 1,000 private jets, though private air traffic came close in Miami for Super Bowl LIV, with 984.

475

The number of private jet parking spaces across the four airports in the Las Vegas area, according to the Clark County Department of Aviation. That’s a lot of drop-offs.

5,473

The number of miles flown by Taylor Swift—from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Los Angeles International Airport—so she could make it to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his team win the Super Bowl. Swift arrived at LAX in a chartered Bombardier Global 6000 via VistaJet, and not her own Dassault Falcon 7X, in a possible divide-and-conquer strategy of buying a business aircraft that can do 90 percent of your missions—and booking a charter to handle those few-and-far-between ultra-long-range flights. It’s a canny approach that can reduce both costs and emissions.

3:30 p.m.

The local time Swift landed at LAX. Breathless pre-game commentary exaggerated the tight travel window between Swift walking off her Tokyo concert stage and arriving in Las Vegas, but she touched down in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon with a day to spare. It is unclear whether the singer was shuttled to Las Vegas via air or ground transport (the drive takes a little more than four hours), but it has been reported that she used her Dassault Falcon 7X for the final leg.

$1 million

The price Kelce reportedly paid for a luxury box to ensure that Swift and Kelce’s family could enjoy the game in style. Swift’s famous friends—actress Blake Lively and rapper Ice Spice—were also spotted partying in the costly suite.

20%

The share of Super Bowl viewers who were celebrating Kansas City's win because of Swift's relationship with Kelce, according to consumer research firm Numerator. Swift continues her world domination of pop culture—and big score for the fairytale romance factor.
