Farnborough Airport Aims for Net-zero Emissions by 2030

Farnborough Airport has committed to reaching net-zero controllable carbon emissions by 2030 under what it calls its Net Zero Roadmap, the London-area business aviation facility recently announced. Farnborough Airport, which calls its commitment one of the most ambitious net-zero emissions targets in the aviation sector, added that it expects its efforts to result in a 91 percent reduction of all emissions generated from the airfield.

As part of the program’s launch, just ahead of the upcoming Farnborough International Airshow, the airport has committed to offering sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at the same price as standard jet-A for a trial period from July 1 to the start of the show on July 18.

While Farnborough Airport began offering SAF 12 months ago, it expects the launch of its Net Zero Roadmap to shine a spotlight on the importance of reducing the cost of the fuel, which remains perhaps the biggest hurdle to its full adoption across the aviation industry.
