Gogo Galileo Brings Fast, Low-Latency Inflight Wi-Fi

As Gogo Business Aviation nears the launch of Gogo Galileo, it’s receiving unprecedented demand for the Low-Earth-Orbit global broadband satellite service.

As Gogo Business Aviation nears the launch of Gogo Galileo, the company’s new Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) global broadband satellite service, it’s receiving unprecedented demand for the system with the HDX antenna.

HDX is the more compact terminal for Gogo Galileo and was designed to fit on any size business aircraft from super-light jets and turboprops up to ultra-long-range, large-cabin aircraft.

“The response from the industry for Gogo Galileo HDX is at a fever pitch – there’s been a tidal wave of demand as we rapidly approach commercial launch,” said Sergio Aguirre, president and chief operating officer for Gogo. “It’s clear the market is hungry for true aviation-grade LEO satellite broadband connectivity for aircraft of any size around the globe.”

Gogo says demand for Gogo Galileo HDX is greater than it was for Gogo AVANCE L5, which launched in 2017 and quickly became the most widely adopted and fastest-selling inflight connectivity system in business aviation history.

Demand for HDX has been accelerated due to the development of 27 Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) across Gogo’s dealer network. Those STCs will unlock a total addressable market of more than 18,000 aircraft globally, many of which have not had access to broadband inflight connectivity of any kind prior to Gogo Galileo. Additional STC contracts are expected in the coming weeks.

Gogo Galileo HDX is designed to deliver fast, low-latency inflight Wi-Fi to address the increased demand for data-heavy services and applications in use today, as well as emerging technologies in the future. Gogo Galileo HDX is expected to deliver peak speeds up to 60 Mbps, and mean speeds very close to peak at 57 Mbps.

Textron Aviation Selects Gogo Galileo HDX for Factory Installation on Cessna Citation Longitude, Latitude and Ascend

The demand for Gogo Galileo HDX is coming from all areas of the industry, including aircraft manufacturer Textron Aviation which announced that it will install the new system as a factory option for its popular Cessna Citation Longitude, Latitude and Ascend business jets.

“At Textron Aviation, we are committed to enhancing the flight experience for our customers,” said Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president, global sales & flight operations for Textron Aviation. “By offering Gogo Galileo HDX, we ensure that passengers on these Citation business jets enjoy a seamless and superior inflight Wi-Fi experience, no matter where their journey takes them.”

“We are honored to work with Textron Aviation to deliver Gogo Galileo HDX to its customers” said Gogo’s Aguirre. “Designed specifically for full breadth of business aviation aircraft, the HDX antenna offers passengers a great inflight Wi-Fi experience.”

Textron Aviation’s integration of the HDX antenna is in work for all three Citations.

Wheels Up Selects Gogo Galileo HDX Fleetwide

Membership-based charter operator Wheels Up also recently announced an agreement with Gogo to add Gogo Galileo HDX fleetwide. Installations are expected to begin by the middle of 2025, as soon as certifications for Wheels Up aircraft are completed.

“Exceptional onboard Wi-Fi is a central in-flight experience feature our members and customers value when selecting an aircraft,” said George Mattson, CEO for Wheels Up. “Gogo is a long-term proven partner of ours, and their next generation Gogo Galileo HDX system is a key element of our fleet modernization plan. We look forward to delivering best-in-class connectivity to our customers as we become one of the first and only domestic fleets in private aviation with standardized satellite Wi-Fi capability.”

Gogo Galileo HDX is designed to be an easy upgrade to any AVANCE system (AVANCE L3, L5, LX5, SCS). Gogo has been flight testing the system on a Challenger 300 for the past several weeks and it is performing as planned.

The new service, expected to launch commercially later this year, is backed by Eutelsat OneWeb’s enterprise-grade LEO network. Designed for mobility, the network will deliver consistent performance with low variability across all routes globally.

Gogo continues to accept purchase orders for the HDX, which is designed to be an easy upgrade to any AVANCE system (AVANCE L3, L5, LX5, SCS).

A special promotional rebate of $25,000 is also available for a limited time to current Gogo customers operating a legacy air-to-ground system (ATG 1000, 2000, 4000, 5000) when installing AVANCE SCS and HDX.
