Inflight Connectivity Customers Love

SmartSky customers and pilots like David Natinsky and Barry Blackwood are talking about how easy it is to stay connected in the air with SmartSky®.

SmartSky customers and pilots like David Natinsky and Barry Blackwood are talking about how easy it is to stay connected in the air with SmartSky®. With systems to fit any size business aircraft with streaming-level performance included on all plans with no limits on number of connected devices and up to $50k in savings, now is the time to equip your business jet with game-changing connectivity.

A little more than one year since launching its nationwide next-gen ATG network, SmartSky is delivering a connected experience for the entire aircraft to customers on flights across the continental United States and up to 100 miles past the border in all directions. Customers are spreading the word about the ways SmartSky is transforming their flying experience.

Take it from Citation CJ3+ owner-operator and pilot David Natinsky, who was on hand at NBAA-BACE 2023 to talk to conference attendees about his experience with SmartSky-equipped flights across the U.S. Textron Aviation recently installed the SmartSky system on Natinsky’s 2023 CJ3+ at its Wichita facility.

Pilot David Natinsky Praises SmartSky Connectivity

While at NBAA-BACE, Natinsky appeared at both SmartSky’s indoor booth and static display to describe the effectiveness of SmartSky and how it differs from legacy inflight systems.

“We’ve all flown with other providers, and we all know the majority of the time when you try to send something, it doesn’t go through until you land,” Natinsky said.

“On a trip last week, I had eight passengers who were on the internet the entire time. We landed and everyone was ready to go – on the way back, we landed, and everyone was ready to go. What usually happens is when you land, you’re going to the hotel or going home and spending the next hour or two hours catching up from when you were flying. With SmartSky, you’re not having to do that anymore.”

Natinsky also described an inflight FaceTime call at 45,000 feet “as close to being real-time as it could possibly be,” a ringing endorsement of SmartSky’s ability to provide a network that enables use of high-bandwidth-demand applications previously not possible inflight.

While Natinsky’s experience and testimony highlights the capabilities of the game-changing innovations pioneered by SmartSky, he isn’t the only one talking.

Pilatus PC-12 Pilot Barry Blackwood Wowed by SmartSky Connectivity

“Once you fly with a SmartSky-equipped aircraft, it’s hard to think about a world where you don’t fly with it,” Barry Blackwood, veteran pilot of a Pilatus PC-12 managed by Davinci Jets of Charlotte, NC.

A career pilot, Blackwood has seen it all when it comes to inflight connectivity. And historically, it hasn’t been good.

Now flying a PC-12 equipped with SmartSky, the days of slow connections and limited bandwidth are over. Due to SmartSky’s utilization of a combination of the best available 5G and LTE technologies (with software defined equipment that allows easy upgrade to the next “G”) and a separate connection for each aircraft on the network and no bandwidth sharing with other aircraft, Blackwood and all other occupants of the aircraft benefit from an unprecedented connectivity experience. As a pilot, he describes being able to access situational awareness tools that make the flight safer and more efficient, plus the ability for passengers to maintain streaming-level connectivity simultaneously on multiple devices, which allows travelers to stay connected for business, personal or leisure purposes without interruption.

“SmartSky has developed a system that is highly capable and reliable, which my passengers have all mentioned after flying. Its ability to power many devices at the same time, with no performance degradation, is truly impressive,” Blackwood added.

SmartSky Builds Momentum in Inflight Connectivity Industry

As adoption of SmartSky grows, available STCs increase and customers continue talking, SmartSky has become a formidable challenger in the inflight connectivity industry. Built on next-generation, patented innovations, SmartSky continues to exceed expectations a year after the company’s commercial rollout.

Since then, numerous milestones have been achieved including the completion of more than 1,000 customer flights on the network, 25 total sales and installation partners, and 28 total supplemental type certificates (STCs) complete or in progress covering 14,000 business aircraft. Each of these accomplishments come on the heels of the announced additions of Volato to SmartSky’s fleet of customer ranks and Davinci Jets’ recent decision to upgrade the majority of their managed fleet to SmartSky.

Following productive conversations at the premier event in business aviation, NBAA-BACE 2023 with dozens of potential customers and partners representing hundreds of aircraft, more sales agreements are set to be announced in the coming weeks and months. SmartSky had a robust presence at NBAA-BACE, including its brand-new double-decker booth and expanded space that had ample room to accommodate the numerous conference goers who stopped by to learn more about the company’s expanding offerings that go far beyond the cabin and capitalize on its ability to power digital transformation in aviation with IFC for the entire aircraft.
