Nashville Museum Spotlights African-American Music

The National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM), which opens to the public on January 30 in Nashville, features seven galleries dedicated to preserving and celebrating more than 50 music genres, including spirituals, blues, jazz, gospel, R&B, and hip hop. Displays at the facility feature artifacts, objects, memorabilia, clothing, and state-of-the-art technology. 

“This museum has actually been more than 400 years in the making,” says NMAAM president and CEO H. Beecher Hicks III. “We welcome music lovers to this magnificent cultural experience as we celebrate the history of African-American music, truly the soundtrack of our nation.”  

With COVID restrictions in place, the 56,000-square-foot museum is limiting the number of visitors and requiring face masks.
