Baker Aviation

Family-owned Baker Aviation provides aircraft charter and maintenance services from its headquarters at Fort Worth Meacham International Airport in Texas, including 24/7/365 aircraft-on-ground (AOG) rapid response. Professional pilot W. Stanley Baker, III, formed the company with his father in 2008. They began by providing the management and charter services, adding the maintenance capability in 2011.

When Baker Aviation earned the ARG/US Platinum safety rating in 2012, its charter fleet consisted of a Citation 650, Beechjet 400A, and Hawker 800A. Later that year, the company purchased AeroMech, a mobile maintenance business based in Addison, Texas, and rebranded it as Baker Aviation Maintenance. Retaining AeroMech’s employees and hiring Ray Goyco, Jr., as chief operations officer, the company received FAA Repair Station certification in 2012 and expanded into a third hangar at Addison in 2013.

As personal electronic devices powered by lithium-ion batteries proliferated in aircraft cabins and passenger baggage, Baker recognized the need to contain these items if the batteries failed and caught fire in flight. It became the exclusive distributor of the Hot-Stop “L” line of fire- containment kits in 2013.

Expanding its maintenance capabilities, Baker designated a family-owned Cessna Citation II for dedicated rapid-response movement of personnel, tools, and parts in support of AOG operations starting in 2015.

In 2019 the company consolidated its maintenance activities, moving Baker Aviation Maintenance from Addison to Fort Worth and breaking ground on a hangar and office complex providing more than 65,000 square feet of hangar space. (Baker Aviation moved into these headquarters, which also house FBO Texas Jet, in mid-2020.)

Also in 2019, Baker Aviation Maintenance began focusing on Beechcraft King Airs, performing several upgrade projects and becoming a dealer for King Air aftermarket parts providers Raisbeck, BLR Aerospace, and Blackhawk. As of 2021, the company also provides maintenance on Hawker, Beechjet, Citation, Learjet, Challenger, Falcon, and Gulfstream business jets, and Honeywell, GE, Pratt & Whitney Canada, and Hamilton Sundstand engines and auxiliary power units.

Baker Aviation has continued to add aircraft to its managed and charter fleets, including larger Citations, King Air and PC-12 turboprops, and a Lear 45. In June 2021, the company took on two Citation Xs and a King Air 350, bringing the number of its managed aircraft to 14, including 10 on its charter certificate.
