flyExclusive

FlyExclusive is the trade name for North Carolina–based Exclusive Jets, a wholly owned subsidiary of LGM Enterprises. It provides worldwide charter services on more than 60 company-owned or leased Cessna Citations and four Gulfstream GIVs. It also offers a jet card program.

LGM owner Jim Segrave began his aviation career while enrolled in a computer-science program at East Carolina University. On the side, he was shuttling parts on a Piper Saratoga single-engine propeller plane that he bought on a loan cosigned by his father, a businessman with companies in North Carolina and Virginia. Soon he acquired five more aircraft and quit college to focus on his expanding transportation business.

In 1994 Segrave started his first jet charter company, Segrave Aviation, at Kinston Regional Jetport in Kinston, North Carolina. Over the next 15 years, he acquired 21 managed aircraft, provided jet charter services, and opened an FBO and aircraft maintenance shop. He sold the company to Delta AirElite in 2010, signing a non-compete agreement.

When the agreement expired in 2015, Segrave launched Exclusive Jets at Kinston. He hired back many of the Segrave Aviation employees, including Michael Guina, who became president of the new company. Shortly thereafter, to avoid being confused with New York–based Exclusive Charter Services, the company branded itself as flyExclusive.

At flyExclusive, Segrave and Guina made two major changes to their previous business model: using only two aircraft models (Cessna Citation Excel and Encore) and owning rather than managing their airplanes. While the company has since widened its Citation fleet to include five models and is now offering several of its aircraft for purchase, leaseback, and management, as of May 2021 all but one of the Citations on Exclusive Jets’ Part 135 charter certificate had registration numbers ending in JS (for Jim Segrave).

Segrave also founded Jetstream Aviation, an aircraft refurbishment and painting facility at Kinston. As flyExclusive acquired used Citations at a rate of five to seven per year, they were run through Jetstream for an updated and consistent look across the fleet.

Using the Citations, flyExclusive provides charter service to the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. In March 2020 the company acquired Tennessee-based Sky Night and its fleet of four Gulfstream GIVs, allowing it to offer global reach. Two months later, flyExclusive launched its Jet Club card membership program with two levels—Fly Club and Exclusive Club—both requiring an initial $150,000 deposit but with differing benefits and annual and hourly fees.
