Iacofano's In-Flight Catering

Iacofano’s In-flight Catering provides meals and provisions for business jet crews and passengers at more than 75 airports from six kitchens located across the U.S.

Ohio native John Iacofano grew up in a culinary family. For 30 years, his Italian immigrant grandfather operated Johnny’s Room 24, a chophouse run out of a former Travelodge motel near Cleveland until it closed in 2004. John’s father, an executive chef for several years, subsequently established the Ohio School of Culinary Arts. John Iacofano took over running the school at age 19 when his father died unexpectedly.

In 1999, Iacofano moved to Charleston, South Carolina, to attend Johnson and Wales University, from which he graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts and a concentration in food and beverage management. In 2001, while in college, he founded Iacofano’s Catering & Foodservice in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, preparing deli trays for corporate groups. Soon after that, the company opened Iacofano’s Deli in West Ashley, another suburb of Charleston; a restaurant in Mount Pleasant debuted in 2005. Seven years after its opening, the company closed the deli to concentrate on catering.

Johnny Q’s BBQ & Oyster Roast Catering opened in 2009 and, in 2010, Iacofano’s In-flight Catering launched for business aircraft requiring food services at Charleston airports. Over the next few years, the company added kitchens to serve airports and communities in Columbia, South Carolina, and Charlotte, North Carolina. To further concentrate on its catering business, the Iacofano Group closed the Mount Pleasant restaurant in 2012.

The company expanded its in-flight catering business in 2018, opening a kitchen in Westville, New Jersey, just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia International Airport. The kitchen provides in-flight services to airports in the greater Philadelphia region and across central and southern New Jersey, including Atlantic City, Cape May, and Trenton.

Returning to the founder’s home state, the company launched its fifth location in 2019 in Cleveland. Then it expanded to Denver, where it opened its sixth local kitchen in early 2020.

In-flight services at all locations include fresh flowers and arrangements, “day of” dry cleaning, glassware and china, newspapers and magazines, pillows and blankets, birthday and specialty cakes, specialty-store runs and other concierge services, and customized gift baskets. The company also offers kosher food selections, cuisine-specific menus, and specialty menus featuring specific cuisines as well as gluten-free, low-carb, and low-fat items.
