Jet It

Jet It offers a fractional ownership program with HondaJet Elites that provides a set number of days—rather than hours—of usage per year for a given share level, ranging from 25 days for a one-tenth share to 130 days for a one-half share. The Greensboro, North Carolina–based company’s day-usage model encourages multiple trips in the same day at a $1,600-per-flight-hour rate with a minimum flight time of 30 minutes, and eliminates repositioning/empty-leg fees. Jet It also provides charter operation of the aircraft under Protocom Aviation’s Part 135 certificate for an estimated $2,700 per hour.

Former Honda Aircraft sales executives Glenn Gonzales and Vishal Hiremath founded the company in 2018, taking delivery of their first HondaJet just three months later. The two had worked together at Gulfstream Aerospace, where Hiremath served as sales development manager, and Gonzales, a former U.S. Air Force F-15C pilot, spent nearly five years as a sales support demonstration pilot. Gonzales left Gulfstream to join Honda as a regional sales manager in 2014, and Hiremath followed to become Honda’s director in charge of sales in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa in 2016.

By the end of 2019, Jet It had six aircraft based in the eastern U.S., including three preowned and three new jets; and it ordered an additional 10 HondaJet Elites in 2020, with one delivered by the end of that year and four due by mid-2021. The company ended 2020 with 10 new and preowned aircraft based across the U.S., including two at Teterboro, New Jersey, serving the New York City area; one in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and several at Greensboro.

While the HondaJet Elite is single-pilot qualified, Jet It always uses two pilots. However, owner/ pilots who obtain their HondaJet type rating can join the company’s Red Jet Squadron and fly as copilot alongside a Jet It captain. On Nov. 23, 2020, Gonzales and Red Jet Squadron pilot Jon Halpern set a world speed record in a HondaJet Elite, flying 1,662 nautical miles from Denver to Bar Harbor, Maine, in three hours and 59 minutes.

In 2019, less than a year after starting Jet It, the founders launched Jet Club, a similar HondaJet membership-based model serving Europe and Southeast Asia with Hiremath as CEO. Jet Club operations began in early 2021 using a Maltese air operator certificate and offering a rate of 2,500 euros per hour, including handling and landing fees.
