Financial Columnist Sticks Up for Bizav

While many general-media publications have been bashing business aviation in the past year, the AOL-owned Web site DailyFinance has just taken a decidedly different position. In a column last week headed "Wall Street Has Many Things to Be Sorry About-Just Not Corporate Jets," columnist Jonathan Berr came to the industry's defense, noting that "there is a sound business reason for big-shot executives to use corporate jets. Oftentimes, it's the most practical way for CEOs to get from one place to another...As a taxpayer, I would rather have [JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie] Dimon and [Bank of America head Brian] Moynihan show up at an important hearing than be stuck at an airport somewhere." Concluded Berr: "Corporate aircraft are a red herring that distracts Congress and the American public from the real issues affecting the country."
