Online Aircraft Marketplace Debuts

UsedAirplanes.com is open for business. The Web site displays thousands of for-sale used aircraft--and despite the domain name, some new models as well. The site allows you to search and sort listings by manufacturer, price, tail number, model, year, state and airframe hours. In addition, you can post information about aircraft you want but can't find on the site; and you can save listings you'd like to return to at a later date. Advertised airplanes run the gamut: you can find small prop models for as little as $25,000 but also plenty of big jets, including a super-midsize Challenger 300 (at left, $17.8 million), a large-cabin Gulfstream GV ($28.5 million) and even bizliners, such as Embraer Lineage 1000s (call for prices) and a new Airbus A320 ($44 million). Note, however, that while anyone can buy airplanes displayed on the site, only brokers can list them for sale.
