New Device Facilitates Onboard iPad Use

Flight Display Systems is introducing what it claims is the industry's first iPad arm-mount upgrade for business aircraft. The product, which will be available next month, charges the Apple iPad's battery and allows passengers to use the tablet in either vertical or horizontal position. The mount is a drop-in replacement for Flight Display Systems products that have been installed on Gulfstream, Falcon, Hawker, Challenger, Pilatus and Citation aircraft. It is easily removable and can therefore be stowed for takeoff and landing. Price has yet to be determined. Flight Display Systems president David Gray said the mount was the most requested item from its customers and added that with almost 10 million iPads sold in 2010, he foresees "a massive shift towards carry-on in-flight entertainment."
