Bombardier Adds to Global Jet Family

Bombardier is adding the Global 7000 and 8000 to its family of ultra-long-range business jets. The Global 7000, the larger of the two, features a four-zone cabin and 7,300-nautical-mile range while the Global 8000 offers a three-zone cabin and 7,900-nautical-mile range. The manufacturer expects the Global 7000 and 8000 to enter service in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Both jets are priced at $65 million (2010 dollars) and are projected to be 8 percent more fuel efficient than the currently available Global XRS. The new models will boast a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85. Their windows will be 80 percent larger than those on current Globals and their cockpits will feature an updated version of the Global Vision flight deck, which is based on the Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics system.
