Vermont FBO Receives Award for Environmental Design

Vermont's Heritage Aviation FBO has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold status by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Vermont's Heritage Aviation FBO has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold status by the U.S. Green Building Council. The FBO, which opened about one year ago at Burlington International Airport, features one of the largest "green" roofs in New England and a parking lot made with pervious pavement that allows water to be absorbed into the ground rather than channeled into storm drains. Rainwater collected in a 30,000-gallon tank is used for washing airplanes. Heritage Aviation's 79,000-square-foot facility, which uses a variety of other energy- and water-conservation methods, is located in a renovated 1950s-era National Guard hangar. In addition to FBO services, the company offers private air charter and aircraft management and airframe and avionics maintenance.
