Gulfstream's G250 to Feature a "Bird Splitter"

Gulfstream's forthcoming G250-a midsize derivative of the G200-will incorporate a "bird splitter" on its tail, according to Israel Aerospace Industries, which is manufacturing the jet. The structure is designed to "split" an incoming bird and thereby protect the aircraft and its crucial systems. A video of the splitter in action shows what appears to be a sharp structural element on the leading edge of the vertical fin.
