7 Great Dive Sites Best Reached by Business Jet

Worth the descent.

1. Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands. The smallest island in the British territory, Cayman Brac offers spectacular wreck, shallow reef and wall diving, with three chutes that feature “waterfall” views of sand tumbling over the edge.

2. Roatan, Honduras. One of the best islands for shark diving in the Caribbean, Roatan offers wreck and swim-through dives for divers of all experience levels.

3. Catalina Island, California. Known for its clear water, giant kelp forests and abundant marine life, Catalina Island can be reached only by ferry or private/charter airplane.

4. Marathon Key, Florida. To avoid the long drive down U.S. 1, fly your bizjet to this dive site, which is home to the largest continuous living coral-reef system in the U.S.

5. Yellowstone Lake, Wyoming. At 7,783 feet above sea level, Yellowstone Lake is one of the world’s largest high-altitude lakes. It offers fast currents, geothermal hotspots and a close-up look at the endangered Yellowstone cutthroat trout.

6. Missile Silo, Abilene, Texas. This unusual site allows divers to explore the remains of a Cold War-era Atlas F missile silo with its lower end submerged in 130 feet of water and the missile control station at 30 to 60 feet.

7. Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean. One of three Caribbean islands still governed by the Netherlands, Bonaire began protecting its marine resources in 1961, resulting in an 86-dive site at Bonaire Marine Park, which is home to more than 350 species of fish and 57 species of coral.
