Up Front: February 2013

What to look for on the pages of Business Jet Traveler in 2013.

As I write this, the new year has barely begun, but it’s already clear that it will be a big one for Business Jet Traveler.

In April, we’ll publish our second annual Chinese-language Buyers’ Guide, to be distributed to our readers in China and at the Asian Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai. Last year’s edition proved extraordinarily successful and we’re excited to be expanding our reach even further into such an important market.

Meanwhile, we’re already working on a sequel to one of my favorite 2012 features: BJT’s Book of Lists for our June/July issue. Last year, we assembled 14 pages of lists that covered everything from the world’s most challenging runways to Bobbi Brown’s cosmetic travel kit to six facts about Elvis Presley’s private jet. Got any ideas for this year? We welcome them! Please submit your own lists—or ideas for lists—to [email protected].

In October, Business Jet Traveler will celebrate its 10th anniversary. It’s been a long journey—even though it sometimes seems as if the years passed by in a flash—and we’re amazed and proud of how much the magazine has evolved. Stay tuned for details about how we will mark this milestone.

A word about helicopters. It’s no accident that this issue includes two features on them—Randy Padfield’s “Best Helicopters for Busy Folk” and Mark Huber’s review of the Eurocopter EC145-T2 (page 22). The world’s largest helicopter trade show and exhibition takes place March 5-7 in Las Vegas, and we’ll be there, distributing BJT to attendees. In addition, our sister publication, HAI Convention News, will publish daily editions at the show. If you’re interested in helicopters but can’t attend, visit ainonline.com for all the latest news from the event.

Incidentally, Randy’s article may look familiar to you if you’re a Barron’s subscriber. A version of “Best Helicopters for Busy Folk” first appeared in that publication, as did another article in this issue, Jeff Burger’s “The Xojet Difference.” Both features resulted from our partnership with Barron’s, for which we have been covering the business jet field since 2008 (see BJTonline.com/barrons).
